Interview with Demster

1) Why was born Sauron?

In 1995 Eclipse , Sunless and myself were called by the devil to spread his musick, we had no choice but to obey. Sunless had been channelling the essence before in his band Satyr (94) and needed to continue the blasphemy. Eclipse and I answered the call to battle and later (96) we found Ludas, who had been active in Melech (93 - 95), more than ready to support us on drums.

2) Let's tell us about "For A Dead Race" ?

For A Dead Race was stillborn in 2004. After our previous album, we decided that we wanted to go deeper with our music and take people to more desolate landscapes. This means that the blast beats aren't as prominent as before and there is a lot of variation throughout the album. We feel it has a rawer and more malign atmosphere as Universe of Filth. We weren't pleased with the sound of Universe, it sounded to clean, to modern. It was the first time we used triggers. This time we didn't use any trigger shit, nor did we polish the sound to much. We feel this album represents our thoughts and feelings a lot better.
3) Tell me something about your Lyrics.
Some lyrics deal with our hatred towards humans and religion. Prey to destruction is an adaptation of an Aztec myth about the end of humanity. Deliverance in blood and Salvations call deal with worship of the Devil. We want each member to be able to express himself. That`s why there is not a constant "theme" to them. They are all highly personal and have meanings that only the writer knows of. Lyrics are written by Eclipse, Sunless and me (Demster) .

4) How was born the "For A Dead Race" amazing artwork? What represent the illustration?

The artwork is a compilation of the worx of Gustave Dore. All illustrations come from his version of Dante's Inferno. I feel his art represents the bleak feeling the album has.

5) Your music is violent and brutal. What crazy shit do you listen everyday to create these chaos gems ?

I guess I can speak for us all if I say Darkthrone, Beherit, Watain, Craft, Mayhem (old), Burzum, Funeral mist, VON, Sadistik Exekution, D666, Anaal Nathrakh, Deathspell Omega, Mysticum, Forgotten Tomb, Fluisterwoud and Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult are some of the cults we listen to mostly nowadays.

6) Your favourite nowadays bands?

I would have to say that I am really impressed by the whole Norma Evangelium Diabolii roster. Also Fluisterwoud and Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult are the greatest hordes from the mainland.

7) How do you see the future of your band, what are your hopes?

We hope to channel the darkness that has driven us for years to come. We don`t want to tour the world or score some major deal. We are comfortable where we are now. We will just continue spreading the black gospels until the essence speaks through us no longer!

8) Do you think we could see you on tour in Italy someday?

Perhaps, only I think it will be a single gig in stead of a tour. (I am in contact with Morbid of Forgotten Tomb about some possible shows together with Fluisterwoud and Bunkur) We are looking for possibilities to play abroad some more.

9) Have you already started working on the new material?

We have started work on a new track. We will strive for our new material to be better in every way. That is what has kept us going for the past eight years, and will keep us going.

10) Would you leave a message to the blackterrormetal.com readers?
